Hey, and congratulations on your soon to occur jump to the Mac wagon. You wont regret it.

Now, not to dampen your 1GHz parade, but have you taken into account the fact that the only things the 1GHz offers over the 933MHz are 67MHz of additional processing power (barely measureable) and the addition of 20GBs more HD space? If I were you, I would choose the 933 and BTO it with a 60GB drive for an additional $50. That way, it would be $150 cheaper than the 1GHz iBook, and all you would lose would be those 67MHz, which as I said, is not something you would notice.

If you're worried about having to go through the Apple Store for a BTO, and in turn worried about having to pay tax which can be quite a bit, don't be. Check out SmallDog.com, they almost always carry various BTO configurations in stock and ready to ship, or with a delay of only a few days, and they are one of the highest rated Mac merchants. And chances are that you live in a different state than SmallDog is based out of, so you will be able to escape Uncle Sams greedy hands...

Whatever you decide, you're going to love and live Mac.

I also agree w/ the above which is one of the reasons why I chose the 933mhz instead of the 1ghz. I just don't understand Apple's logic of making both a 933mhz and 1ghz and charging an extra $200 for 67mhz. I would understand that price if maybe they was offering 1.2ghz, but not just for extra 67mhz.

If you was planning on spending that money for the 1ghz, then I would get the 933mhz, upgrade the HD to 60 gigs if you need it, but more important I would max out the ram to 640. If you do all that on Apple's site you would see the price would round off to same as the stock 1ghz model.
