I just got an external HDD and I want the following to happen: Upon mounting the external HDD, I want the application Psync to show up.
That's it. I have no knowledge of AppleScript at all so I have no idea how to do this.
If anyone's kind enough to write this script for me I'd be greatly grateful.

Thanks.

I'm trying to do something similar. I thought about creating a Folder Action to achieve this, but unfortunately it looks like you can't attach a FA to a drive, only the root level of the drive or below. Drat.

It would seem you can attach Folder Actions to /Volumes…

How??? I've tried the script Attach Folder Action to Folder, but I don't know how to specify /Volumes, since that doesn't seem to show up in the GUI (I know it's there in the Darwin folder structure). Help!

Yes, I ended up doing that. But it still won't attach to the script.

Hmmm. Worked here. I brought up /Volumes, right-click, attach folder action, I chose the new item alert script, inserted my USB flash drive and was presented with an alert dialog.
