how do you add and read ePub's on an iPad ?

I used to be able to do this w a free app, but moving to 10.9.x iTunes put my books onto an

app on the iMac : iBooks.

cant seem to figure out how to sync these from time to time to the iPad.

iPad runs iTunes 12.12.27

iBooks, Kindle, Stanza and many other iOS apps let you read a variety of electronic book/publications. You do not have to get your epubs through the iBooks Bookstore to read them in iBooks - often you can download them via a browser and you'll get a prompt to "open in..." and you can then select all sorts of apps, including iBooks.

Goodreader 4 does them, if you don't want to deal with iBooks.
