Apple issued a fourth developer beta of iOS 8.3 on Tuesday, one day after an
updated OS X 10.10.3 beta emerged. In addition, the company released the second version of a "public" 8.3 beta to registered public Appleseed testers, which is identical to the developer beta. Also included was a new, fourth beta of Xcode 6.3, which includes Apple's Swift coding language, version 1.2.
The release notes for iOS 8.3b4 appear to be identical to the previous beta's notes, indicating that there has been no progress on the known issues from the previous beta, which include issues with outgoing call audio, FaceTime audio, third-party keyboard issues and problems with Spotlight, among other areas. The iOS 8.3 new features include more diversity in emoji characters through "skinning" options, and expanded Siri language support.
The build number on both the developer and public version of the latest iOS 8.3 beta is 12F61, while the Xcode beta for version 6.3 is 6D554n. The iOS 8.3 release is expected around the same time as the public release of Apple Watch, so in the mid-April timeframe.
