So, is Deadpool actually aware he's in a comic? I know almost nothing about the character.

Sweet Jesus, I want to see this so badly.

Yes, he's a 4th-Wall-breaker and often talks to the reader in the narrative and even occasionally during direct dialogue with other characters. He's not the only character that knows, however. So does Dr Strange and Franklin Richards, along with Harley Quinn from DC.

Ryan Reynolds, though...
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Huh? Without Reynolds, and his personal investment in making this as true to the comic as possible, I would have zero interest in this film.

Besides, in the comics (10 years ago) Deadpool himself said he wanted RR to play him, if he ever got his own film.

I know Reynolds has been working to have a Deadpool movie made for many years, I just don't think he's much of an actor, to put it kindly. He has played Deadpool once before, in fact, in X-Men Origins:Wolverine, and that didn't exactly work out.

Origins: Wolverine didn't work out generally, and this movie isn't connected to it. I'm with Cap'n and andi, looking forward to the film a lot

I think its fair to say that the previous outing for Deadpool wasn't spoiled by Reynolds but rather a story/direction choice.

Reynolds is no Tatiana Maslany but he is more versatile than people give him credit for, haven't you seen Buried?
Comedy is clearly his true calling though so this seems a perfect fit to me.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

It was spoiled by the script not characterizing Deadpool correctly. (Sew his mouth shut? WTF? The guy is known for his sarcasm and wit.) It had nothing to do w/ Reynolds, who is the actual person Deadpool's personality is based on in the first place (the character Berg from Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place).

Yeah, seriously his personality in 2 Guys is exactly what is needed. Hard to say he can't do the job if you're familiar with that work.

I know Reynolds isn't to blame for the Wolverine trainwreck (he isn't even on screen for very long), but I can't remember ever seeing him in anything good. I have not seen Buried.

Where did you see that? Deadpool first appeared years before that show.

Deadpool's personality changed a lot after Liefeld (his creator) left Marvel, he became less bloodthirsty and more sarcastic (and funnier).

Deadpool has been my favorite Marvel character since I was a kid, and I think Ryan Reynolds is a perfect fit. Can't wait to see this.

I don't mean to sound like an old man but is it just me or does the violence in movies just keep getting stronger and stronger? Hard to imagine how it will be in 10 years.

But all in all, interesting movie!

Actually in tailed off for a long time. Look how many 80s blockbusters were rated 18 (UK) I guess thats R in the US? Terminator, Robocop, Rambo, almost anything with Sly or Arnie in it. These movies are rare these days. Apart from the straight up horrors, the last one I can think of was Dredd.

Yup, most movies these days are PG13, compared to most in eighties being R. Compare something like the original Die Hard to Die Hard 4.0 - they even set up noises to hide the catchphrase to avoid an R-rating. Getting to PG13 is apparently very important to maximize profits these days.

As an R, it's probably not going to do GotG numbers, but I could be wrong.

If it does just half of GotG, it'll be massive. (and that's what I believe it'll do)
