If anyone here can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

I have a 17" PowerBook 1.33 Mhz running OSX Tiger.

The 80Gig Hard Drive is almost totally full. I keep getting warnings about it when installing software etc.

Actually, I had to delete my entire iPhoto library just to install iWork.

What I'd like to know is, is there an easy way for me to find out what data is taking up all this space on my HD?

I tried a custom 'find' for any folder over 50MB, and my laptop just whined and got really hot, ultimately showing me three inconsequential folders.....

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers....

Scott

Thank you very much!! WhatSize is an awesome little app. Turns out the offending culprints were the Symphony Orchestra Jam Pack demos (2.1 Gigs!) and iPodder downloads folder (1.3 Gigs) which was irrelevent since I have been using iTunes exclusively for Podcast downloads for ages.

Anyway, really appreciate it. I now have some breathing room.

Cheers,

Scott

Glad you found it useful. I came across it awhile ago, and it has become an indispensable app for me!

I usually just go to my HD, select list view and then have it show just the name and the size (and make sure it's set to calculate folder sizes). It takes awhile to calculate, but once it has it gives you a really good idea of what is taking up space where, and you can use the disclosure triangle to see into a folder without losing the info about that folder's size.
