Been full time since March 24th. All I'm waiting for now are drivers for my Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer and I'll really be a happy camper.

I've been using X full-time since 10.0 at home and on my work machine.

When 10.1 came out I also installed it on the other macs in the lab. Have no complaints from the other users, so far.

Still apps missing - mostly those dealing with peripherals, such as Toast and Retrospect. Photoshop in Classic is the most stable os9 app I've seen and it's not that slow. And Office is okay.

ok i'll chime in.

os x, while it has a few quirks, is my full time os and the best os ever.

as a web developer i got apache/php/mysql/perl and photoshop (in classic but not forever), IE/Omniweb/mozilla all on the same box. plus a killer text editor with php/html/javascript/sql tags called Pepper.

i use windoze and linux all the time too but os x is the most promising OS ever.

Ever since Quicken 2002 came out, I've been X'd full time. I have to use Netscape's X beta to log into my bank software, and games aren't the best for me yet, but then again, I don't have much time for games nowadays.

The big things I'm waiting for are an update of gNAT, although since BrickHouse was updated, I'm not waiting that bad anymore. The only other thing that I could really use is Palm Desktop.

I have been full time X since PB! (You'll also notice that's when I joined these forums!)
I switched from PCs and have never looked back!

I've migrated to 10.1. A pleasant surprise was support for my UMAX Astra 2100U scanner. I'm using the mail program almost all the time. But having problems with friends receiving attachments using the Mail app.

All my major apps work in classic without any problem (Photoshop 5.5, Office 98, etc.

A small minor sidenote - it would be nice if iShock controlers work in 10.1 with games. And that games worked a little better in classic mode. But hey that minor.

At work I have been running 10.0 and now 10.1 all day long. Due to the Restrospect beta apps not working I have to boot back into 9.2.1 at night for our back-up to work right. Outside of that and the F-12 key eject causing problems with Celview's AS400 things are running good.

So put two marks down for me!

Bought a dual 800 to run 10.1 and converted the day it came out. I'm happy. Everything I use runs fine either in 10.1 or in Classic. Just do it.

Part time since PB, nearly full since 10.0, now since 10.1 100% in X for my Tang iBook (use classic for Palm Desktop), and 99% in X on my AGP G4 400 (use classic for StarCraft and some other esoteric internet stuff). Have to boot back to 9 for my SCSI burner.

Hoping for 2 button support for classic games.

full time, with the occassional reboot for stuff that wouldn't work otherwise - like DVD, or UT - but that's it. Otherwise, all X.

I've been using OS X since it was officially released in March. Since then the only time I've only ever had to reboot into OS 9 was to use my SmartMedia Reader/Writer and to play Quake 3.

I didn't care for 10.0.4 at all and used it every now and then just to confirm the fact that it was an ass slow OS. 10.1 has changed all that. I still use Now up to date in classic which will have an OS X native version soon and sync my palm in classic as well. Other than that I don't use classic much at all. I did have to actually restart my machine once in order to watch a DVD on my powerbook in OS 9. 10.1 won't display DVD's on an external display but they're working on a fix for that. My uptime was 13 days up to that point. All the other apps I use are X native. Explorer, itunes, mail, limewire, transmit, imovie 2. I just hope Apple can make the next update as great as the 10.1 update.

Apple doesn't read these message boards. If you have a complaint or suggestion for OS X send feedback where it will do some good.

Same here.

And michael, good to see you around, I remember you from my AI days... weren't you quoted once in the washington times or something after an expo??

And re: OSX, I've got Office v.X GM (thank you gnutella), a beta of Windows Media Player X (which runs better than the windows version imo). MBU kicks ass.

I'm painfully allergic to OS9 *cough cough wheeze*

Been there since March 24th, only booting into OS9 for scanning and burning CD's and now I rarely even do that as I can scan thru classic and can burn CD's thru the Finder although I occassionally have to boot into 9 and will have to until Roxio completes the OSX version of Toast. After that I'll probably pick a scanner that already has OSX drivers then delete anything OS9 related off of my hard drive. Now that is a day that I am looking forward to

Me? I am still in OS 9 not beacuse of OS X any more (since 10.1 ROCKS! ) But beacuse there is no Carbon PS 6.0 and FCP 2.0 those are the 2 big things keeping me from using OS X as my main OS .</STRONG>

I was 95% in 10.0.4 and since 10.1 have not booted into System 9.x, so 100%. Work with legacy Macs over a WAN, AS 400 emulation, other network admin. and all works well.

Been part time in OS X since Public Beta on my Pismo 500. When 10.1 came out I jumped to full-time except to use ChemDraw and MacNMR in Classic (I'm a Chemistry Grad Student). All my CD burning is through Finder or Toast Preview (FLAWLESS). Have Office X Beta and this app is going to ROCK. NO PROBLEMS with Entourage, Word, or Powerpoint (I haven't used Excel). My Que Firewire CD-RW and LaCie 60 GB Firewire Drive were recognized instantly and work great. OS X is a wonderful OS.

Using it fulltime as well. I only need to switch into 9 to burn. I'm too lazy to buy a new CDRW. On Oct29th I'll have one more app that I need to stay almost fulltime in OS X. I need to switch to 9 to print. GRRR Bad Epson, Bad. Anyway The only other Apps I need are Photoshop and GoLive and Office as well as Realplayer, once I get those no need for Mac OS 9 on my system at all. right now everything runs nicely under classic. So once I get my printer dirvers and I get a new CDRW switching to Mac OS 9 will be non existant.

Oh Forgot one more thing. Need my Damn Camera Drivers for my Canon. GRRRRR That's worse than not being able to print. Bad Canon, Bad...

My time is OS X is about 98 percent. Once I get those few things it will be 100 percent

I am now very pleased being a OS X user now with X.1. 10.0-10.0.4 wasn't exactly something to impress your PeeCee friends with..
Have only rebooted into os 9 one time since I upgraded to X.1. X.1 is very nice, even it's still a bit sluggish.
My reasons to have 9 on my HD is only getting smaller and smaller. My only reason now to have it, is basicly for printing trough classic. Luckily my FW Yamaha 16/10/40 cd-rw player has good support in X, and I can now watch my DVDs in X.
A few things that I still miss:

MS Explorer mouse driver.
Printer driver for my Epson SC 670. (No surprise if there will never be one, but.. Still hoping!)
My 512 mb ram module that will arrive in a week. (I think my imac will just love to have extra ram under X.1)

99.9999999% X user at this moment!

I'm almost full-time with 10.1. I only boot back into os 9.2.1 when I need to use JAM. From what I understand Roxio is working on the update.

Two machines at home and both are on OSX full time.

iMac Rev A - 256 megs of RAM
- I don't even have classic installed. I use it as my web server and run BBEdit on it. Only use it as a server, and its great.

G4 Tower - PCI Video - 1.5GB RAM
- I have not booted into 9 except to patch or update the OS. I will uninstall OS9 (that will be an adventure I am guessing) when I get Office X and Photoshop X.

Already saving up my money for it.

After installing and uninstalling both 10.0 and 10.0.4, I made the switch with 10.1....love everything except the IE5.1 lag, and the fact that eskape hasn't made OS X drivers for my TV tuner yet.

I have been a PC user since I was 10 years old. I'm 25 now, and once I saw the screenshots of OS X during the pre-beta times, I just had to purchase a Mac. I had always wanted to try Macs out, but I thought that they were a bit too expensive for what it "appeared" that you got. However, after using PC's for so long, I began to notice the types of things I used the computer for....not a whole, whole lot! Internet, e-mail, music composition, web development. There was nothing I needed to do that I couldn't do on a Mac. After researching and adjusting to the specs of them, I decided to purchase a graphite iMac 600 with OS X. I have not regreted the decision in the slightest, and I have really enjoyed using all of the X updates through 10.1. The command line is a pleasure to use (when needed) and I'm convinced if people could just try a Mac, they would never look back. I use PCs at work with utter disdain now. I simply cannot believe that PCs with Windows ever got such market share. In a way, it's cool that Macs are somewhat more of a smaller, artsier clique. Though with X's UNIX infrastructure, many developers are taking their first dive into a platform that might otherwise be overlooked.

Mac OS X is what an OS should be: Fast, solid, efficient, uncluttered, and beautiful.
