Is there a software option to make the keyboard lights on my AL PB brighter?

Unfortunately not. The overall keyboard is relatively bright but with low room lighting they may not show much brightness. You really have to be in virtual darkness which is what they are really designed for. Also you will see the keys better when the computer is tilted at an angle towards you. I don't think Apple will provide software to make the keys any brighter otherwise it may put a strain on battery life.

Yeah, the lighted keys are really for when working in dim situations (on a nighttime flight or in a darkened classroom for instance). Using them in a lighted room wasn't really the intention. If you had them really bright then your batt life would be cut down, as mentioned above.

To set the keyboard backlight to maximum brightness always, open "Terminal" and type...
