Hi,

I'm looking to get a PCI Firewire card for my aging 7500. I've got a 500Mhz Sonnet G3 upgrade an Adaptec SCSI card, and about 300 megs of RAM in this beast. I'm getting a new Cannon DV video camera, and I really want to be able to capture DV footage reliably with my existing machine. I've asked around, and the card that keeps comming up is the VST Firewire/USB card.

Has anyone had any experience capturing DV on an old PCI Macintosh? I've never delt with DV before, so I don't know if I'm overlooking something. I'm fairly certain my drives would be able to withstand the data rate of DV, but I'm not sure how the process of capture/playback through firewire works.

Any information anyone could provide would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
