so i had xmms working just dandy there for awhile. now whenever i launch it, it loads, then hangs. i can't figure out what is going on. i erased the config files, relaunched it, and it generates new files, only to hang again.... any thoughts on what i should try.

when i launch it from apple's X11, all i type is xmms. also when it crashes, it sometimes requires a REBOOT of the computer to even get the window to come up again. logging out, and logging in usually results in the xmms window not even being drawn the second time around... any thoughts greatly appreciated. cheers.

edit... figured it out... if anyone cares:
command line:> esd -port 16001

fixes everything...

i got that setup to work without any esd command. i did however have to use:

/>setenv DISPLAY :0
/>ssh [email protected] -Xg
pass:xxxx
/>xmms

i got that to work once.....

when i first installed xmms it worked first time
then after an update or two it stopped working

deleting the ~/.xmms dir and applying these esd commands to make sure the sound was working

i found it behaved it self after that

xmms FAQ at fink.sourceforge.net

hope this helps

actually, xmms hangs every now and then, still!.... can't figure out why.
have to quit X11, then X11 won't even relaunch.. then have to re-log-in...

anyway to fix X11 using terminal.... command line restart???
TIA
