iPod mounted, but not showing up in iTunes..

	Why not? I see the iPod on my desktop, but it isnt in iTunes... >,< Oh, and every now and then, when I plug in my iPod the dam thing looks for it's hard disk ( magnifying glass on iPod thingy ) does this mean my iPod is going to go soon?
