Anyone know if you can play Unreal against a friend (two iMacs linked up) if you only have one CD of the game?

cheers,

unfortunately there is no legal way to do so since there is no way to install a spawned copy. check ebay, you might be able to get a second disc for cheap, and still not violate any copyright laws

Just use Disk Copy to image the disk and mount it on the other computer.
Hell, do that on both, no annoying CD access nr anything.

yeah, but won't the LAN pick up on the fact that the two Unreal's connecting to each other have the same registration?

cipher is right

all you need is a disk image of the original cd.....but do this and save yourself 600MB of hd.....

make a disk image copy of the original but make it read / write

then delete everything on the diskimage except the

textures folder

with in that folder delete everthing except

Palettes.utx

then make a new image of this new "disk" but this time read only

the image is then only a 16k file
takes up virtually no room on the hd and....
if you write a short easy apple script to mount this image and run UT
you will only ever have to double click the script to run the game
no more inserting of the original cd

viola!!!!

You have two options 0- via a hub, or a crossover cable.
I suggest crossover cable for now.
You can either thread your own, or buy one - I prefer crossover couplers myself.
I can tell you how to make one of them if you like.

Which option do you want to do?
Its dependent on that.
