Okay, I'm really getting tired of the "Push" faucets on sinks in various public places. Really, is the cost savings that beneficial from your traditional sink? What other benefits are there? I see none.

There is nothing like pushing the "cold" 5 or 6 times for a single hand cleaning. Also, the "hot" never works, as it takes time to warm up.

Anybody else find these things highly annoying?

Incredibly so. Sensor ones are somewhat better.

I rarely see them and most are motion sensing now.

I agree; however, even the sensor ones are a joke half the time. If you move your hands just a little bit, the water shuts off and then you need to re-awaken the sensor again.

I think water should just run continuously.

That's exactly what they're there to prevent; Some inconsiderate person leaving the water on.

They'd be less annoying if they let the water run for more than 10 seconds.

They're usually too short and I end up having to sidestep to reactivate them

Indeed, the worst are the ones that you basically have to hold down, they really suck.

Time for the step-pump sinks to upgrade from porta-potties to real world washroom environments!

Exactly...hold down with one hand while washing the other hand by itself, then swapping so you can wash the other hand. Let alone the fact that you have now touched the filthy faucets and are dirtier now than when you started.

no, he was talking about a foot pump that you have to move your leg up and down in a pumping action. what i was thinking of is a button you just step on once and water comes out. much better then a foot pumping thing....no offence to the guy who talked about the foot pump

The K-State student union has the worst. You stick your hand under the faucet, and it shoots soap into your hand, then starts the water, and then starts the dryer. It's a nice concept except invariably the soap misses your hands, or the water stops before you get all the soap off, and you start longing for an "analog" sink.

Well I've been in some public restrooms that didn't have a push faucet and some sap turned the water on and walked out afterwards just leaving the water going. I've seen that few times actually so you know I don't mind the fact I need to hit that faucet a few times to make sure my hands are clean.

Of course I'd prefer the automatic sensing but in a pinch.

Yes, they are incredibly annoying. The ones at my school not only stay on for less than 5 seconds, they barely put any water out at all. I like the foot switch idea, although right now the sensors are the best. Sure, it can be a bit of a pain to find the exact spot the sensor wants your hands to be, but I'll take that over the push faucet any day. Not to mention people may end up looking around under the counter to find the pedal if its not exactly where they expect it... and then they can get jammed... etc.

Agreed! I was at KSU during the Student Union remodeling and was pissed that they changed to that system, it was just awful and probably really expensive!

The ones at my school are awful. They are all broken so you have to hold it to keep the water going. I get annoyed and sometimes, im not gonna lie, I just skip that step if I dont plan on eating after or something like that.

Well if there's one thing this thread has taught me, it's not to use any school bathrooms any time soon.

Those stupid, slow electric hand dryers instead of good old paper towels drives me crazy.

I'll take the running water either by push, pull, turn or electric. No problem.

They don't work as advertised. Better than the old air driers, sure, but I prefer the motion-sensing paper towel dispenser any day.

Huh? They blast air onto your hands and in turn, blast the water off of them. What is not working that is advertised?
