Is there a utility available that will list the contents of a .zip file? I have backup cds with poorly named .zip files and I don't want to have to expand them to find out what's in them.

open a terminal ans cd to the directory containing the zip file.
then unzip -l nameofarchive.zip

the switch (-l) is a lowercase 'L'
I tried it and it works.

I'll go find the CLI version of unzip and see if the -l switch works as you said. (Not presently installed) Thanks!

Well that's weird. It wasn't in my 10.1.5 copy but I did read somewhere that it gets installed if you throw on the Dev tools. Did you install the Dev cd?

I picked up the unzip utility and I successfully did what I needed to do. Thanks! I kept searching for 'list archive' or 'list zip contents' or something similar and wasn't getting anywhere. Your message got me searching for 'unzip' and bingo, found the software.
