Looking at other pics, he’s at least half-hobbit. They’re pretty pointy, and it’s exaggerated by his connected lobes.

Calling Walz "Tampon Tim" is such a colossal conservative self-own — even more so because they’re completely oblivious to the fact.

It sounds like the objection is the gender neutrality part, not the tampon part.

Yes, I'm sure the gender-neutral phrasing in a bill with bipartisan approval is exactly what Tr*mp had in mind…

Apparently, the [url=https://www.threads.net/@jonathanhoefler/post/C-oBpJeuoA1]Harris-Walz logo has been tweaked a little[\url]. The commentary is quite interesting, too, graphic designers — even famous ones — are kept in the dark on who will be the pick. And clearly, some combinations work better than others. The Biden-Harris logo works well, combinations with longer (hypothetical) VP picks like Bidens-Whitmer not so much.

Edited.
I don’t like it, but I’ll wait to see it in the wild.
Issues: how is it going to look on a white bg? It draws attention to Walz, not Harris, and not in a good way. He’s the “something is missing” candidate now.

I would say it is better, but still not great. Biden-Harris had a nice balance, in no small part helped by the fortuitous fact that the two names have just the right lengths. Harris-Walz looks like amateur hour to me. The refinements lift a bad design to meh/bad.
However, if this is the most vocal complaint of the rollout, they are doing quite well. I’m surprised Hoefler did not get the gig, though.

I think you are making the same mistake the people on threads did, and thinking the white outline was a design element/shadow, when it just overlays the two versions of walz. A side by side comparison may have been better. It's literally just a little bigger.
The challenge is with stacking logos like this is if you make the short name the same width as the long name, it ends up being larger with more weight. So it has to be smaller font size. I might not have gone quite so small, and maybe used color to indicate difference (a lighter blue for example). Trump/Pence varied it by having the vp very tiny and not bold. Which is saying something...

Chicago’s public transit system has temporarily managed to make the trains run on time for the convention.
They’re empty, because anyone with even an ounce of sense is avoiding the convention.

Good lord, no. They just started showing up a few months back. The Republican spam came a bit later, but Apple (it’s a dotmac email) puts that in the junk folder.
Sorta related, when my ex was still my ex to be, she tried to score tickets to Obama’s presumed acceptance speech in the park downtown. The offer was 12 hours of “get out the vote” work, in Indiana for an entry into a lottery.
She declined, but gave them our phone number, leading to years of relentless party robocalls, and then dumped me like three months after this happened.

If they don't point to her real website, they are just scams. I don't want to do the research to see if that's a real PAC or not. kamalaharris.com is it. Not .us, not hypnenated, etc.
I've gotten so many texts I had to block and warn my parents not to click any campaign texts.
Oddly enough I was getting robocalls from the republican party. I think someone added me to their list as a joke.

Just checked her site out of curiosity. The one thing I'm looking for on a campaign website is candidate positions on various policy matters.
Lots of donation and store links. Ways to find events. Hiring staff. FAQ sections on ordering & donations. Not one word about policies anywhere.

Reader, I think more policies were added. Side effect of a shorter campaign, I'm sure, and not wanting to just copy Biden's verbatim.
Trump behaved as expected, but Kamala handled it pretty well. Hillary was used to normal debate protocols which trump ignores/d, so she was too polite. (I remember him stalking her around the stage when she was speaking even.)
I loved the handshake from the get-go.

Yes, she added issue positions over the weekend, I think. A note about the addition made the news.
I didn't watch the debate, but saw some snippets afterwards. Harris inviting people to attend Trump's rallies to see how demented he is - I wasn't expecting that. Spicy.

CNN visited Springfield, Ohio to investigate this. The city has no complaints on file about anyone eating pets.
I've heard that cats & small dogs disappear in rural areas of Florida, but that has more to do with the gator population.

It says “The White Hous” Does Xitter typically cut-off account names like that, or is this a phony account with a name close enough to the one they’re trying to target, and people just won’t notice?

Honestly, I don't think it will matter. The bigger issue is that Trump and Harris are graded on vastly different curves:
- For Harris single tweets such as this one are thought of as potentially tipping the election whereas Trump can regularly say much more outrageous things and people might not even shrug anymore.
- Age is no longer a factor even though the ages of Biden and Trump are functionally identical (aka very old and a serious change one of them will die within the next four years).
- Trumps speeches are not a sign of mental decline, he always talked like an idiot.
- Policy positions only matter for Harris, Trump can show up with the sketch of an idea of a plan he has seen on a piece of paper once that was on the table next to him.
- Character matters only when it is a convenient cudgel against Harris.
- It doesn't matter that raging liberals like Dick Cheney and all serious people who worked for Trump warn against him.
- I like lower taxes.
- There is this small-d democracy thing and the peaceful transfer of power that didn't work so well last time Trump was in office.
Over time the standard on the GOP side has been lowered so much that

I thought it was fake too at first. Not because of the missing “e”, but because I can’t really wrap my head around the strategy.

I’d say stepping on your own dick 5 days out from a tight race is the bigger issue.
Edit: or more accurately one would presume, Joe stepping on Kamala’s dick.

My point is that it shouldn’t be close in the first place, and that isn’t Joe’s or Kamala’s fault.

Looking through the latest tweets, it looks like they're trying to mobilise the resigned sanity — the folks who've figured that voting is kinda pointless, because nothing relevant is gonna change, either way. Kids keep getting shot, the rich get richer, the income gap keeps growing, etc.
Giving them concrete promises the party can be held to may entice some people.

Are we reading the same feed? What I see are a bunch of “look how great we’ve done” plus “the GOP are liars who want to ban abortion”. I’m discounting Halloween spam.
An ostensible policy promise sticks out, not to mention the part where it’s coming from the White House and not Kamala.
More importantly though, this policy traditionally energizes Republicans against it far more than Democrats for it.

I think Biden's done a pretty good job, especially considering the mess he inherited. Inflation seems to be finally whipped, gas is back to normal, and market performance under him has exceeded that during Trump's term. Economists no longer think a recession is coming - the Fed managed the fabled soft landing after all.
Perhaps you were referring to the smoking crater left by Trump?

These accomplishments will be quickly forgotten. His legacy is being forced to drop out of the race. This is what will be most associated with him.

Biden has had a surprisingly impressive legislative track record, many of the bills have passed with bipartisan support. Inflation and other economic indicators have trended up, and his administration has been relatively competent. Hadn’t Trump scuttled the only bipartisan immigration reform bill with a realistic chance of passing.
The age thing has been applied selectivity to Biden, any of the (good) arguments why Biden shouldn’t have run for a second term apply verbatim to Trump.
