I just ran Norton Spring Cleaning program Duplicates Remover but I unintentionally deleted all of my email settings, identities, messages, and addresses. To fix it, I ran Norton Disk Doctor UnErase. I now have all of these folders with items in them and I don't know where they are supposed to be placed in order to work. For example, I have an item called "Inbox.msf" Where does that belong? I am using Outlook Express 5.0 on a PowerBook G3 running OS 9.1 Help???!!!

The easiest thing at this point would be:

1. make sure you have your rescued files in a secure place

2. reinstall any affected application that will not run without those files. This will create new files so that you can run the applications.

3. Do a search for the new files that match your rescued files and just COPY (don't MOVE) them over the new ones. This should simply replace the new files with the old (rescued) ones.

You might want to try running OE's Import feature. Too bad you aren't running Eudora- it's only too simple to fix that problem. Damn MS and it's proprietary formats.
