It's a sinkhole from Guatemala that formed in 2007. Nothing to do with Agatha.

This is an access tunnel for the alien invasion. They've been preparing for a long time - the storm exposed a tunnel prematurely.

The 2007 aerial pics depict a different location. They show a mid-street hole centered roughly on the sidewalk. The current pic is in mid-intersection, centered on the missing corner.

Well, it looks like reader50 is right. The pics are different—this one isn't the one from 3 years ago. Story also mentions another sinkhole that opened up last year, so that's at least 3 in the past 3 years.

Yup. You can thank the idiots that thought it would be funny to post said picture to a bunch of threads several years ago for that.

That hole is bizarre - it looks so fake.
But it's probably just the gateway to hell, so I shouldn't question it.

It swallowed up several homes, and is just one component of a disaster as a result of tropical storm Agatha, on top of an erupting volcano.

20 metres deep and 15 metres wide

That thing is creepy and huge--straight out of some horror movie or sci-fi flick. It's going to take many truckloads of dirt to fill that one.

Look at what the cretin did to London:

Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

^ I think that picture’s fake. I walked right by that spot (on all three sides, no less!) just a few days ago and I didn’t notice anything strange about the water.

Well, apart from the colour, of course.

Am I alone in wanting to get a shedload of rope and lower a video camera into that thing?

Someone needs to throw a trampoline down there, then a bowling ball a few hours later.

I agree, Person Man, 4th Doctor is great, but I relate more to the modern Docs.

I was really anti 11th Doctor when I first heard about him, but I gave him a chance and now I'm hooked. I miss Tennant but he was overly preachy, and his denouement was over the top.

You didn't expect this would become the Who thread did you?

Ha. I'd like to know when Oisin hands out his first temp ban.

I'm sure it'll be a minute, he doesn't strike me as someone who just can't wait to use his powers
