Is it possible to take a regular Windows XP drive, put it in a firewire enclosure and have it bootable under Boot Camp with some minor modifications?

So far, I've just stock the drive in the enclosure and boot it that way, but when I select to boot from that drive, it just ends up booting into my already installed Boot Camp Windows.

Can Windows even boot from an external drive?

You're probably better off asking this in the "alternative operating systems" forum, rather than the OS X forum.

It "is possible" to boot Windows from an external drive, but it takes some really serious tinkering with stuff that I certainly wouldn't try. It is complex and involved, but it can be done. However I don't recommend going this router for anyone but the most diligent and dedicated techheads. And the above is only true and tested with USB external drives; I do not know whether firewire drives are at all visible to Windows during boot.
