Anyone know how often the app store is updated with new apps? Is it Tuesdays like the music and movies section?

Did this question ever get answered? I tried to google it and couldn't find the answer.

Right. Applications are per-iTunes account, apparently:
When users download an application, it is wrapped in the same FairPlay DRM the iTunes Store is known for (even free apps), but it is fortunately bound to a user's account and not a device. If you, for example, own both an iPhone and an iPod touch and they're both tied to your library, you can pay $9.99 once for Super Monkey Ball and play it on both devices. Lose or destroy your iPhone? Hook your new one up to iTunes let it install all your apps at no extra charge.

any good simple (IOW not full-on social networking) app to track one iphone from another (gps)? I cannot seem to find one, and the social networking ones have all kinds of baggage I don't want or need.
Thanks!

On the same Mac? Music can be played on up to five macs that have the iTunes Store account verified. Maybe this is true for apps as well.

I purchased Bejeweled under my dad's account (he had $20 that he wasn't going to use) and so, I authorized iTunes with his ID and now I have Bejeweled on my phone, along with my music library. I'm guessing as long as you're authorized, there's no issue.

great app potentially, but just sad for the iphone/ipod touch as it is now...

Initially I thought that it had Yahtzee along with dice poker, but alas, just dice poker, but it's still fun. Lots to unlock.
After a while this is my favourite so far. The implementation is high quality, some dices look sweet, and f.e. different dice sets have different sounds.
I bet the next iPod Touch has speakers, probably stereo ones!

FileMagnet, $5
It allows you to load copies of files onto your iPhone to view later. The upload app is free. It supports all kinds of formats like PDF, JPEG, Office, etc. It supports pinch zoom. Unfortunately no landscape mode yet. And you need to have both device on the same subnet (like on your home wireless LAN) for the sync to work.

The other day I had an air quality alert on weatherbug! It was in the town I work in (which is about 20 miles from where I live though). So it only showed up in one of the two.

My most used so far are:
BeatMaker - An amazing music application. Well worth $20...and I'm not even a musician.
FileMagnet - Store any file type on your iPhone.
Labyrinth LE - Free Labyrinth game
MotionX Poker - 3d poker using dice instead of cards
JirboBreak - Breakout, Jirbo-style
SFNetNews - Slashdot, Think Geek, Source Forge, Fresh Meat and Linux.com news
Mobile News - Associated Press news
BoxOffice - Movie times
Apps I like but just don't use often are:
Fiat Lux - Flashlight
SodaSnap - Send picture postcards via email
Remote - Controls iTunes
AOL Radio

I'm biased on one - but here are the ones I personally use:
BattleAtSea - fun Battleship - wish it offered a couple more BattleShip type games
Enigmo - fun, but hard - stuck at a level
Shanghai - love the different types of tiles
Tap Tap - fun arcade type game
Galcon - love this one as I can play it without feeling too stressed
Note2Self - best voice recorder on the store
VersaWise - good Bible on the device itself
AriaTouch - buggy, but nice to access my FogBugz stuff
Remote - iTunes controller
I also sometimes use:
WeatherBug - buggy so I don't use it that much
midomi - used it a few times - so its nice
Mocha VNC Lite - used it a few times, but buggy
WhereTo

myLite - FREE - Basically a free flashlight with some other nice options. I don't see it as party-oriented. For me, it's useful in the camping or outdoors gear for emergency light flashes or, for the security paranoid, challenge-response setups where the party has to have the right strobe color at the right speed.

I agree. One of the few well worth it.
Let's see.
Fizz weather (very nicely done).
YouNote (lots of flexibility)
Note2Self. Can email voice notes to yourself.
AOL Radio. Very nice if you have 3G.
Pandora. Finally, offers stereo. Good for when AOL isn't receiving a strong signal.
Remote. Nuff said.
YPmobile. Free yellow pages.
Twitterific. Makes Twitering ez mode.
Facebook/Myspsace. I prefer Facebook's.
Urbanspoon. Not bad. Good for when undecided.
Where To? Prefer this over the others of its type.
PhoneSaber. Fun
More Cowbell. Same.
Scrabble. Great port.
Quordy. Boggle.
MotionXPoker. Very nicely made.
FileMaget. Nice.

I looked at fizz weather but the interface doesn't seem as streamlined as weatherbug or the one Apple includes.

I thought so too but went ahead and gave it a try and it's far superior to both.

Why does the weather app Apple includes suck?
They went with Yahoo on the iPhone. But in my experience AccuWeather (Dashboard) works a lot better.

My guess is nobody is really that interested in flashlight programs. But devs OTOH are because it's a simple programming exercise. Kind of like hello world on the iPhone. What really surprises me is that some of them aren't free - as if anybody would pay money to see somebody else's hello world.

Two new ones.
Sports Tap: great for following quite a few sports. They just added the Olympics yesterday. While US centric now, they are planning to keep adding as much as they can. While not the most beautiful app, it is fast and fluid.
Stanza: A free reader that has access to a very wide variety of public domain books. The interface works pretty well and I have yet to have the app crash on me.

One thing I wish the app store would change is how they allow reviews by anyone. I have seen a lot of apps get bad reviews on price alone.
Then there are always the dumbshits who can't figure out how to use the app, like the ones that posted about the Google app.
