Yes, you are the only one. Give it a few hrs to get the kinks worked out.

I wonder why the topic starter is more important than the topic itself.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

the interface needs a lot of cleaning up:

has too much of a PC-esque look to it. I mean at least Aquafy those "Instant vB Code" buttons if nothing else!!!

please disable "email notification" as default on

The msg window should be as wide as the screen resolution, not a dinky small box!!!

NO SHOUTING!!!!!!!!!! (IE LOWER CASE "SIZE, FONT, COLOR" PLS!!!)

fix "stick out tongue" similie...

make all other field uniform in length except topic, so when on bigger monitor, the topics will fit on 1 line, instead of a lot of blank spaces for user name

make all forums' look uniform...

missing icons next to thread

somehow fix posts broken by the HTML code?

Completely agree. Such ugliness...... but I'm sure they'll get the layout worked out soon enough.

Here's my suggestions on how to fix those last few nitpicks. (Note I come from a PHPbb background, not a vB one...)

obviously, thread title width needs sorting. Some of your graphics are broken on the thread list too. Personally I'd put replies and views in separate columns, and take the number of votes off the ratings column.

Thread view's pretty good as it is. Maybe replace those "report..." links with an icon? The horizontal width of the author details is a bit large, but that's a small point. Perhaps put the post reply/new topic buttons above the permissions bar thing?

Finally, the links at the bottom of every page are way too big.

All in all, I think the conversion was handled more impressively than on any other site I've seen. Few go to all the trouble of even modifying the user interface to look like the old software! I'm glad we now have boards with a much better search function

I'm liking this site more and more now

Amorya
What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Geez, give them time to get everything up and running. And in the meantime we should have fun playing with the new features (and seeing if we can break things )

Okay my apologies OwlBoy. You weren't the only person though. The thing went haywire, and I was getting notifications from like everyone on MacNN. My mailbox was overflowing. There was definitely some sort of problem.

It is amazing that most of it is still around, only problems is that some links that I have saved no longer work. Also some of the threads are just a HTML mess.

Still an amazing job that all the threads are still here and all the users made it through.

Why don't we all help out by pointing out every little thing that's annoying? I am sure they know most of it as it's fairly obvious, but having it all written down can be useful. A few small things.. The line is too thick in the first post of each thread. The one right above the post and under the blue header. If this is too vague I'll provide a picture.. Another easy one is to add an extra break return after the signature line. Removal of the Subject section, in every forum I haven't really seen it used much and they aren't even displayed here. Then the Message part can be gray so it doesn't look so bright, I like that the message text thing is taller though. Somrt of makes up for the width. BTW a question for anyone who's used a vB and ikonboard.. You know how on ikonboard if someone posts a huge image or link that stretches out a post.. it -only- stretches out that post? I find that particularly useful.. It'd be cool if this board had it too. BTW, with making the buttons more aquaesque.. Well if you're using OS X they should appear as such Though making them images would be nice since IE 9 makes them pure white (since it is the only browser I know of that lets users change the colors of the controls. I am guessing they take a hex number and draw them out) All the Instant vB code would look nice as it did before and the smilies should have more than 3 per row.. as it is now.. my window has to be huge to just see the post message button. Another obvious one is the Insert Dynamic Post Link Here thing and showing the page numbers for multiple pages.. Making old UBB working.. etc... Perhaps the report abuse could be a lightning bolt? I dunno where I got the idea.. But I think it would be appropriate.. Anyone else? Again, I encourage everyone to help contribute to this list, no matter how obvious.

P.S. The bold line I was talking about can be seen in the topic review of every thread, in every post.

Also.. I think it looks not bad for a start

There are still some bugs that need to be squashed, and we will need to get used to the new features, but I'm very happy with the transition on the whole. This is probably as seamless a transition as I could imagine. Kudos to the admins.

Thanks Synotic. The bold line isn't as easy to fix as one would think, but we'll try. As for the rest of your suggestions -- they're all helpful. Thanks again!

I was having problems logging in because my user ID changed to my publicly displayed name (Used to be nullsyn, is now ringo). Try logging in with your displayed name if you had a name that was different before. There was something in suggestions and comments about spaces being removed from names as well.

Can you reduce the width of the user details section of posts? It feels just a wee bit too wide. And yeah those darn admin options at the bottom of the page.... And is it just me or are the 'instant vB code' buttons a bit on the chunky side?

Edited to add: And how come page numbers are missing from the thread listings? Presumably there are still 50 posts/page? In threads that have over 50 replies it seems as though you have to go into the thread first then select the page.

Yes, we're going to reduce the width of the user details, and also try putting a thin grey line between the user info and the post. It used to be that way in UBB 5, and it might look nice.

We'll be hiding the admin options as soon as we find the damned option in the huge admin panel. =)

You can disable the instant vB buttons altogether (I don't personally use them at all, so now I don't have to look at them anymore). Go to "Options" in User Center.

We're working on the page numbers; someone told us about that yesterday.

And as for any crashing issue, we are working with Microsoft, and we do have some new news on that that we'll be posting about as soon as I confirm a few details.
