Probably too slow to use as MP3 players. too slow.
Use as very-low demand servers.

(This is the most fun suggestion. Ever wanted to see what an HD looks like? Take it apart. Use it as wind chimes. Take that old CPU and solder it to a coffee mug. Smack the power supply witha baseball bat. Baically, kill the computer.)

Will BeOS actually run on these machines? If so where can I get an old build that will?

I'm not sure about 68k MacMame- but you could put netBSD on the suckers and run Mame that way.
At least I think. I don't actually know anything to back that up, I just guessing it's a posibility.
To be perfectly honest- this is my 50th post, and I finally get to move from "New Member" to "Member" so I'm reaching for something to say.
But it's worth checking out.

Yea I think they're pretty useless. It's kinda sad too that 68k macs are so worthless nowadays. Most PPC Macs can at least be used for something, but not 68k macs. I think there's some BSD versions that you can run on them, but I'm not sure what you'd want that for.
What really bothers me is that the damn things can't play mp3s. I find it really hard to believe that a 68k processor isn't powerful enough to decode an mp3, if it doesn't give processor time to ANYthing else. Oh well. My LCII is currently in peices in my basement. I guess I'll toss it someday. Kinda sad. . .

Donate them to charity. SOunds hooky but People need them. I bought a LC2 for $3 (everything included) and gave it to my future niece whos 4. She loves it! Loaded it with some educational software and it works great.
What an investment!
