Meet Francisco "Frankie" the fennec fox.
He's a 9 m/o rescue that we took in, but he almost didn't survive his introduction. One of our cats, Ramses, a 33lb, 3/4 serval, tried to eat him. They've come to an understanding now, with the cat realizing he's a friend, not food. Gawd, those ears! They're outrageous!

Ramses must have thought his ears were clams.

Obviously we didn't realize it at the time, but after some research it appears that, in the wild (both species are from similar regions in Africa), they have a natural predator>prey "relationship". Oops, my bad.

So very adorable.
A red fox greeted me this morning at the jobsite and majestically strode past, beautiful animals.

Shaddim posted a pic of his new pet fox. He also mentioned his 33lb pet wildcat. I'm not seeing any dogs.

He's a canine, for sure, though he does use a litter box, and he purrs. So maybe 70% canine and 30% feline? SOFTEST FUR EVER, EVER.
I know for a fact he bonded with my daughter's Papillon almost instantly. It was love at first sight, must be the ears and her diminutive size, she's full-grown but only ~4lbs. Before we got him I thought she (the papi) was the most frenetic animal I'd ever seen, but he has her beat. Still, they must have spent 6 hours playing, chasing, and grooming each other today. That's good, we were afraid that she was feeling isolated living in a house full of cats. The only one who had anything to do with her was Princess, our extremely friendly yet semi-retarded Ragdoll.

Foxes and dogs are both canids, which is close enough for government work.
But I had to look that up to be sure.
Edit: scooped!

Until they start shagging. Almost sounds like torture.

So, thanks? I think it's illegal to have a pet fox in MA though. We were hoping to limit her pet aspirations to a guinea pig (her list: guinea pig, bird, long-tail lizard, ferret, another dog, oh yes, and kittens). She's very annoyed our cats can't have kittens.
Glad mr fox is getting along with the rest of the furry family!

Ferrets would be awesome if they didn't stink horribly.

When he's excited it's, "SKREE! SKREE! SKREE!" Gets a little old if it goes on for too long.
My daughter gave him a very serious look then told me, "he's not a dog". "No, he's a fox, sweetheart." "Does he bite?" "I don't think so, he's not bitten anyone yet." "Okay, then you can keep it." hahaha

He's a rescue, otherwise we probably wouldn't have him. He came from a house where the woman had >20 dogs, 30+ cats, a dozen caged ferrets, and the fox, who was locked in a kennel in the woman's bedroom. You can imagine the smell in the place. She was evicted, the place condemned, and all the animals were confiscated then sent to the shelter, pending animal cruelty charges. Likely most will be destroyed. He didn't quite make it all the way there, somehow his little carrier ended up in my truck. Total mystery.
