That the upsides to abstinence greatly outweigh the downsides.
Many say it's not practical to advocate abstinence for teenagers with raging hormones, but seeing as they're pretty much incapable of making perfectly sound decisions, I'd rather them avoid pregnancy/STDs/emotional baggage until they're at an age to handle it (and from a Christian perspective, until they're married).

Assuming someone can adhere to it, duh. The practicality goes out the window once you try to get teenagers to actually practice it. Doubly so if you withhold sex ed.

Yeah, yeah, they're all young adults until they do something we don't agree with. Put behind the wheel of a potentially deadly vehicle? Fine! Take 'em to the shooting range? Great! Penis in a vagina? NOOOOOOOOOOO – you could ruin your life!

There have been times that felt like 50% of my job is avoiding opportunities for rampant fornication.
but the rampant fornication was the best part about being a teenager (that and buying cars for $100 and playing demolition derby).

I don't think the idea of one gender telling the other what to do is inherently off limits.
Likewise, if you're declaring "this is what it is to be male", it at least implies exclusivity to that gender. I don't think we want anything on your list to be exclusive to men.
That's what makes the "what entails and/or promotes masculinity/femininity" question so difficult for me, especially considering my SJW leanings.
I think there's some basic biology which is hooked into raising children which I don't think we want to alter too much, but I see most of the things which define masculinity and femininity are socially constructed, or if not, we can socially construct them away should we so choose.

He wasn't looking for an answer, he was looking for an angle.

See, that's the whole problem, I wasn't specifying that what I was saying was "only for men" (I exorcised those demons long ago), it was assumed. When he started assuming, I started to mess with him. Because, **** him for the assumption.

and the whole reason people call them "Social Justice Warriors" is because they can't bear dissent and want to destroy (figuratively or literally) any and all who don't agree with them. I agree with a good many of their positions, I simply abhor a conversational vacuum (aka. the "echo chamber") and despise people who seek to bring others down, simply for having a differing opinion.

Is it an assumption, or am I just interpreting language the way everyone would?
"The answer is be a man, do X, Y, and Z."
This implies X, Y, and Z are "things which make you a man".
If X, Y, and Z make you a man, and a woman, saying "these are the things which make you a man" is being exclusionary, no?
Quite an assumption. They make a good human, male or female is irrelevant, though traditionally they can be seen as more masculine traits. However, that was put to bed within secular, mainstream culture decades ago. I suppose it can be seen as exclusionary, if you're looking to be excluded.

Then I posit by saying X, Y, and Z make for a good man, you have added an irrelevant qualifier.
People are going to assume it was put there because you felt it had relevance.
You're reading more into it than was intended, what people assume is on them.

I was addressing Jawbone directly WRT the boys in his care, if a person wants to take issue with that, then it's their burden. I wouldn't throw stones at this ancient Akkadian father for his letter to his son, simply because of his use of pronouns. Good advice is self-evident, or at least should be. Reminds me of a feminist friend who was bent out of shape because she heard me telling a young man, "Avoid getting too serious with girls until you're well out of school". She asked why that didn't apply to girls and I told her, "I was talking with a boy, but if a girl heard it and couldn't make a few minor adjustments to what I said to make it fit her life, then that may not be a conversation she's ready to hear".

The point is, there was no sexism against women at all. Quite the opposite, actually.

Sorry JB
Louisiana is already one of the worst states in the country for STI transmissions, ranking second for gonorrhea and fourth for chlamydia infections. The state has the eighth highest teen birth rate in the nation. The HIV problem in Louisiana is particularly bad, with New Orleans routinely ranking in the top-five highest-transmission cities in the country. In 2012, the state went to No. 1 in the country for HIV cases in people ages 13 to 24.
Despite the enormous scale of sexual-health problems in the state, efforts to get comprehensive sex education into Louisiana's schools continue to be shut down—Democratic state representative Patricia Smith tried last year, only to face a wall of opposition from Bobby Jindal–style religious conservatives, i.e., the same people who think that fetal-tissue research means that low-income women should lose access to Pap smears and birth control pills. Smith's bill lost in a 67-23 vote in the state legislature. The state's current policy pushes abstinence programs, even though research shows a strong correlation between abstinence programs and HIV transmission rates among African-American youth in the state.
Is teaching abstinence but also saying you need to wear a helmet if and when you **** this up just an impossible request?
Contraception is a moral objection, so pretty much. The irony being that even that ignorance leads to an abortion (a far worse situation), but that can be rectified by outlawing abortion. Checkmate, teenagers.
So damned funny. How ironic that they're tearing down the one person in this election who is willing to bend over backwards to get them what they want most. It's all so absurd.

My politics are way different than Sanders, but things like his insistence security stand down during encounter are the types of things which win my vote.

Same, I thought he handled that very well. I'd take him over Hillary in a heartbeat.
You know what I think we all need? A quiz that can help quantify what topics are most important to you and least. And then contrast that against politicians and what they actually have worked towards/against.

Have they pulled this on any GOP candidates yet? Seems like a missed opportunity,

You find his socialist politics more palatable than Hilary? How so?
The GOP candidates (and Hillary) wouldn't let them get that close.

Not saying he's incompetent, I'm saying that the crowd was physically closer (and held back with apparently less security) than I've seen at other rallies.
For the record, I have respect for Sanders, despite his economic views I'd likely vote for him over half of the Repubs (and all the other Dems), because I feel he hasn't sold out to other interests. He has principles and a personal code of ethics, and he stands by them rain or shine. I admire that.
