Is it possible to use a bluetooth t68i phone to actually receive and make calls using one's Mac?
Like if someone calls and there is comes a window up on the Mac LCD saying someone is calling, you choose "answer" and then use the Mac built in mic to talk and the Mac speakers to listen... kinda "hands free" with the Mac?

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Why not just have them call you at your house?

My only phone is a t68i. I am indeed talking about when I am at home and my cellular is still in my jacket or not on my persona. I don't care much for the traditional phone.

You basically want your Mac to act like a bluetooth headset, right?
Sounds like a really good idea, maybe we'll get this kind of thing with Panther.
It would be good if you could use a bluetooth headset with your mac as well, maybe this will happen if we get video conferencing.
Just checked on the Apple support forums and both of these have been requested, right now Apple's bluetooth can't do it but maybe in the future.

OK. Good to hear Apple knows about this. I'm sure they'll make it in Panther. Bluetooth should be able to handle it (since BT headsets are possible) so it is up to Apple now.

My friend has exactly this setup on his PC desktop and laptop with his T68i. The microhphone on his laptop and its speakers acts like a big speakerphone. So there is no doubt it can be done. Just mac os x support for doing it is needed now.

Apple's implementation of BT is missing one of the types of link that BT uses - (SCO links) which means that voice over BT cannot be used *yet* on the Mac.

*bump*
So does anybody know if it is possible? I'm using a T68 with Panther on a Powerbook.

Cheers,
Nick.

right now, you can link address book to your bt phone (just use the little bt button in Address Book) - I think this makes it so that:
(1) you receive onscreen notification of incoming calls, and
(2) you can dial out using the address book
but I don't think you can use the mac as a BT headset yet.

(3) Send & receive SMS messages
Apple's latest Bluetooth update supports headsets. I think it wont be too long before this is a reality (using your Mac as a headset).
