Having a lot of trouble building/stripping down a system folder for a ramdisk. Starting w/'base' ext list, everything I've tried to eliminate resulted in a no-boot up OR a bootup w/a reduced desktop [about 50% of screen size].
Any ideas why these results ?
Options not tried: to use a small sys from a util cd and then add in ext's & cp's. Any thoughts on this approach ?

What? You're trying to install a system folder on a RAM disk and boot from it? I Don't think that's possible.

If you are trying to so that from the OS default ram disk it won't work. The ram disk get's emptied on restart or reboot.
There are 3rd party programs for keeping items in the ram disk, don't know about 922 compatibilty

Is there something different about 9.2.2 than previous o/s?
[Ramdisk was designed as a bootable disk [came in w/sys 7] -- primarily to extend ops time by notebooks on batt's. To use it & memory efficiently, you need to design a sys fold that is small and doesn't turn on HD in 'normal' ops.].
Early os [7,7.1] had prob of wiping out ramdisk on shutdown, both intentional & accidental. To prevent latter, later sys's had option to preserve RD on shutdown in memory cp.
IF you put a sys fold in a RD, the startupdisk cp WILL offer it as your startup disk option.
3rdpty softw offers options of several diff ramdisks [& sys folders], this for situations where one does diff types of discrete work for a period of time and wants max speed on each task/project -- plus the 'save contents' option.

You'll run into problems on newer hardware. It just won't happen, most likely. Anyway... it's pretty hard to get a nice small system folder nowadays.

Not trying to do anything outrageous -- just trying to get something under 50Mb -- would be satisfied w/89mb.
There's a lot of stuff that I seldom/never use and would like to trim to get a fast HD startup, but doing that is the same prob.
What's the hardware got to do with it ??
