I ordered my first new (ie refurb) mac in years and want to get some RAM from OWC before it arrives. Can anyone tell me: are there 2 slots taken up by the 512mb of RAM that comes stock with the dual G5 2.0 (04 version i believe)? That would mean i have 6 free RAM slots? Also, do i need to buy whatever RAM i get, in pairs? Does it have to match the included RAM in any way (ie. same speed etc)?
Thank you!

yes 2 slots are taken, always match the ram in specs
I just added 4 sticks to my dual 2.5 2 were the same model in kingston valueram 512mb and 2 were the same model in 256mb micron (from an old dell)
no problems at all, all ebay bought =p

Thanks for the reply. How do i know the specs of the RAM? Or can i just go by what it says on the current specs of the G5 on apple.com?

The RAM it uses is just standard DDR DIMMs. If you want more, just make sure you get PC3200 and not PC2700.
