Just got this firmware from software update and it fixed the sleep problem 10.3.5 caused on my SP 1.8 G5. Took a month, but Apple got it done.

Also got new 1.1 version of the 090704 security update at the same time.

I wonder if they'll post the same firmware update for the dual processor G5's.

Yeah, it would be nice if they could fix the darn sleep issues w/ the dualies, but I guess it's a start.

What darn sleep issues are you talking about? My 2.5 works like a charm - no sleep issues whatsoever.

Clear sailing on my DP 2.0 Rev B 970. I've only experienced a crash during sleep once. This thread is referring to a firmware update that single processor G5s required after upgrading to 10.3.5.

Every time i try to do the update, my machine boots into "Open Firmware" mode. Asking me to either type in "mac-boot" or shut-down. What the hell is going on? I even re-downloaded the update, so i thought I covered that base. Anyone else having this problem? I've done firmware updates before and they went fine, little bar on the bottom of the screen...What's going on now???

Out of curiosity, what firmware version were you at before this update?

I'm on 5.1.4f0/10.3.5 and haven't experienced any problems with sleep or system stability up to now...

Cheers.

I have a rev A dual 2 and have had fan calibrations problems, but no sleep problems. What happens? Crash when sleeping, when waking from sleep?

XLR8YourMac is reporting that people with 1.6GHz G5s are having problems. Warning: Do not apply it if you do not need it!

Yep. I just installed it on my 1.6 G5, and it killed my USB hub after about 2-3 minutes. I was able to resolve it (I think) by swapping the positions of my RAM. It really pisses me off though that Apple is unable to keep RAM compatibility in a Firmware update. Apple needs to put more effort into testing things that could kill a system.

Thanks for the heads up. That'll be one firmware update I'm not in a hurry to do... (hiding the update in Software Update).
