Ok- I'm going to be in and RV, I will need some nice, compact speakers with nice sound for my pbook and imac. No room for a subwoofer. Style is nice, but size is more important- number one being sound. Ability to withstand loud music at times. powered or plug-in is fine.

i searched but the latest discussion I found was a year old...

thx

hmmm.... 3-5" wide by say 6-8" high? not ittle-bitty.
... but not big.

I have altec lansings now... can't remember which- but they are like 2"x8" that'll work- but I don't have room for the woof.

That small + nice sound with no woofer is hard to do.

But look at the Tivoli Audio Model Two radio. It's got just about the best sound out of small cabinets that I've heard, and it has two audio inputs (one as a selected source, another as an always-mixed source, e.g. computer sounds).

Head to Sweetwater.com and check out Roland's line of mini-monitors. I think their basic lineup is from $60-$150, depending on the size, wattage. Don't know how loud you want, what kind of music it is, or what you're looking to spend. Any music store that sells recording gear should have a decent lineup of 2-speaker systems.
