7200 RPM drive

Does anyone here have a Macbook Pro with a 7200 RPM drive? I upgraded to a 2.16 Ghz 7200 RPM drive when i had my first macbook replaced for noise issues, and I have to say I'm pretty unhappy with it. I don't know if the heat issue is becuase of defective heat parts or becuase of the proc and drive, but it runs WAY hotter than the 2.0 5400 I had. Also, the battery life indicator reads out only about 2:30 of batt life, whereas my old one routinely read 3:40 on a full charge. Anyone here experience similar problems with the top of the line model?

Did you use any of the hacks to reduce/eliminate the whine on your 2.16/7200 machine?

if you used any ofthe hacks your machine will get extremely hot, and you will lose over an hour of battery life i wouldn't recommend it, if you haven't, some of the issue could be the fact that a 7200 RPM drive takes more power, as well as the 2.16 Ghz intel that could be another reason

When I changed my Energy settings to Better Performance, for both Battery and Power Adaptor, it cooled my machine to where it is only warm now. Give it a try.

I have a 7200 rpm HDD in my MBP and I don't think it's much hotter than my PBG4 1.67GHz (5400 rpm) HDD is.

FWIW, I bought a 1.67 Rev D powerbook, which came with a 5400 rpm drive. I used it as it was for a while, then added a 7K60 7200 rpm drive. There were some warnings from people saying they didn't want to add it because they were afraid of heat issues, but I noticed no change. In fact, my hand rests directly over the drive, so I should be able to feel any extra heat pretty well, if it's significant enough.
My guess is that it has little to do with your drive, and a lot to do with your processor or your GPU.
