Hi There

Today I started up my Mac Pro and it seems it doesn't want to startup
it either gets stuck on the blue screen just before log in or the grey screen appears saying that i must restart

I tried resetting the PRAM and that did nothing

i tried starting up the instillation cd holding down D, that freezes
I tried the hardware test and it freezes during the test

i removed 2 out of the 3 hard-drives i have and still nothing

Please respond with any suggestions?
I desperately need to use it

Thank you very much

Try taking out all your RAM except a single stick. If it still crashes, replace that single stick with a different one.

This will tell you if it's bad RAM that's causing it to crash.

when i was taking out the ram i found this random piece of plastic lying on it hmmm odd....

i removed it all except for 1 2gig stick and it crashed
i switched it with another 2gig stick and it wouldnt start up, the light simply blinked at the front

im guessing ill have to take it into apple, i still have apple care on it, thankfully

How long is a usual fix for it? and is there a chance that they may replace it with a new one?
i have all of my information stored backup on time machine

If it's a hardware problem, it's probably the motherboard.

Have you tried it with only one ram riser?

Also, make sure any add in cards you have (video etc...) are seated properly. The ram too.

I already have tried both Ram and video card

Is it worth while for Apple to replace the motherboard or would they simply give me a replacement?

They will repair, not replace.

I went to the apple store and they found the problem and they are giving me new sticks of RAM
they were able to boot up on an external hardrive

at the time, no cd or operating system would boot up and when i'd do the hardware test it would simply freeze
