You need PC3200 DDR RAM - sometimes called DDR400 - regular 184-pin DIMMs, no ECC. For best performance, pair up the RAM by using identical DIMMs on both channels - easiest is to just use one type in all slots.

This is newegg's selection, to give you a hint.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I updated my G5 2.5 dual to 7 gigs last summer.

I keep thinking I should max it out to eight.

Soon probably.

I can't find anyone commenting on their use of 2GB modules in G5s either way, but it should work.

Yeah, it kills me that DDR was always more expensive than DDR2( and now DDR3).

PC-3200 is not available in 2GB modules. The AGP based Power Mac G5s are limited to 8GB RAM because of this. The only Power Mac G5 that can use 2GB modules is the Late 2005 (2.0 dual core, 2.3 dual core, 2.5 dual core dual processor, or "quad") because these models use PC2-4200 which is entirely different and came in 2GB modules, increasing the limit of the 8 DIMM slots from 8GB to 16GB.
