My iMac doesn't have an internal DVD drive. Thus, it won't install Apple DVD Player so I can use it with an external DVD drive.
How do I get around this so I can play DVDs on my iMac with an external DVD drive?

I have a DV400 iMac, but it doesn't say anything about having a DVD drive, does your have a DVD drive or can you still use videolan client?

I am currently using the Apple DVD Player application with an external firewire DVD drive which I put together myself. Working fine on my G4 iMac 700MHz CD-RW.
You can install the DVD Player application using Pacifist. There is a link to a patch on the www.xlr8yourmac.com web site in the DVD FAQ section.
