so, i have an old mac (bw g3 w/ g4 upgrade) and an old crt monitor (power computing 17"). the monitor is showing it's age and looks like it has maybe a month left.

i can't afford a new mac right now as much as i would love to get an imac. but i will need a monitor so my question is can i buy/use an apple 20" monitor with my ati radeon 9200 video card?

if not, what about a 17" monitor and what brand do you recommend (please don't say dell)

thanks

Samsung makes good displays. I'm using a Samsung 710N (VGA only) with my Mac Mini and I used it for about a year with my old iBook (G3) before getting the Mini. It worked fine with the older machine. One thing I like about the Samsung is the Samsung software (MagicTune) that lets you adjust the controls for brightness, contrast and color.

I have a Samsung 204B a 1600x1200 TFT that I like a lot have also have had a Samtron 17" CRT so I have good experience with Samsung. The current rage is wide screen and the ATI card predates that so either stick to the classical 3/4 format 1024/1280/1600 or make sure that the card support any odd wide screen format as TFTs does not like anything but native resolution.
