I'm certified 130 WPM with 1 error, 90 WPM adjusted. How about you?

Just did an online test and got 102WPM with 96% accuracy. However, this is on the Apple keyboard on my iMac; i type faster on my PowerBook's keyboard (one of the best keyboards i've ever used)

I 'hunt and peck', but I've done it so much that I don't have to do much 'hunting' and can usually manage about 50 wpm even with my awful technique. (Just took an online test to make sure.)
I need to practice touch typing.

I don't even see how it's physically possible to type that fast. Can fingers even move that quickly?

I answered by guessing and turned out to be right. At the links others offered for online typing tests, I rated in the low-mid 80 wpm range. That's slower than my personal peak but it isn't too bad. I'm older now. My joints ache.

I am able to type faster than I think. Thats fast enough.
Typing speed is important for secretaries, I am not a secretary. Are you?

When I knew what I was typing I was at about 110 words per minute. My big problem was reading off a document and typing it. Especially since I think for that free test they through in words that will tie up your fingers a fair bit, and since I suck at spelling I'd actually just end up spelling the word wrong. When I actually know what words I'm spelling and stuff I'm incredibly fast. Though you should see me when I'm pissed off, I'm probably at least at 130 then.

On my iBook, with totally crap posture (ie scrunched up in the corner of the sofa with the machine on my lap) I got 65wpm with 93% accuracy, while at the PC upstairs, at a proper desk and a full keyboard I get 102wpm with 99% accuracy.

I'm at about 70 WPM now because I'm using a Saitek Eclipse keyboard, which I bought for use with my Mac mini. I'm pretty sure I could go faster on a regular Apple keyboard. Probably 85 or 90, maybe 100 on a good day with a regular keyboard. The keyboard I'm on now just feels...different. I can't really explain it.

Looks like I am at about 37 WPM.. took the thing about 5 or 6 times and each times got between 34 and 39. I can type pretty fast sometimes, but having to read and type at the same time is tougher for me. O'well. I guess it's a good thing that I don't have to do data entry, but instead just write code.

I'm better than a hunt and pecker, but don't think in reality do much better than 50 words per minute.

probably somewhere around 50wpm. I used a basdard combo between hunt and peck and the correct way. Thing is I hated my typing instructor's anal retentivness so much I refuse to use the proper technique... does it look ugly? GOOD

I do something similar. with the exception of my left pinky for the shift key, and my thumb for the space bar, i type entirely with my index and middle fingers. I usually rest my index fingers on F and J when i'm not typing, but i don't do the whole proper positioning. It's worked for me so far....

I think that at some point I should have all the key's locations memorized no matter what finger or hand I use to type. I think that it will pay off... especially for times when you can only use one hand to type with.
