Counting box sets as one item, just a smidge over 200 at last count. I need to update the spreadsheet I keep for insurance purposes so the number isn't totally accurate.

My wife and I barely crack 200. My DVD buying has slowed down a lot from where it once was. I used to buy a DVD or two a week, but now I only buy one every 2 months or so.

There are several reasons...

1. I realized that I wasn't getting a good return on my money. i.e. I wasn't watching them enough to justify the expense.

2. I managed to buy every movie I really wanted to own and most new releases suck.

3. I got TiVo and it's the best thing ever.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I bought around 10-15 dvds when they first came out.(We're talking when there was like a shelf with maybe 20 movies on it, and Terminator 2 was the best dvd for features, sound, etc) after that I realised that I never watch a movie more than once a year or so. The cost of buying 200 DVDs is like a lifetime subscription to netflix. With netflix, you could watch 100 new movies every year and just re order a movie if you want to see it again.

This, in addition to a home built pvr box with 800 gigs of storage space has eliminated my need for buying movies, and the only reason I have even basic cable is because of cable internet.

I should add that with the pvr/800 gigs, I don't rip the netflix movies like some do. For me it would just be a waste of time since I don't watch the movies often enough. Most of the space is full seasons of shows(simpsons, 70's show, futurama, frasier, etc).

175 at the moment.

My Movies

PS: that's pretty cool: I just added the URL to my post and the forum software automagically changed the URL into a "My Movies" link. Nifty.

You know, I WANT to buy them just to make the series complete but I just can't. I'm not strong enough to fork over the cash for these two.

I am a Dvd fanatic. I have about 350 Dvd's...all with dskins on them, and in special, alphabetical books.
I miss the days of the G5 and XPS Pentium 4 running side by side as high-end machines.

Well I guess I voted wrong (0-25). Failed to take into account the 12 discs of my LOTR's set and the 14 of my Monty Python set.

I voted 0-25, but I'm only counting box sets as 1. I have 2 episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000, all 6 discs of Cowboy Bebop, the Cowboy Bebop movie, 4 seasons of Babylon 5, 1 season of Battlestar Galactica, and 1 season of Arrested Development. Oh, and 1 season of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
