Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I've seen this bug for YEARS. I remember it all the way back to 10.2 I think. I keep hoping it will be fixed but it never has been. Was interested if anyone else has noticed this and/or has a fix.

The problem is that the sound balance seems to change periodically on me for no reason at all. I never do this manually and always have it centered, however sometimes it will shift slightly to the left or right and I will have to reset it. I've experienced this on my old powerbook and on my new macbook and as I mentioned on multiple versions of OSX, so I'm pretty sure it is not something just with my system.

Anyone else have this?

Are you using VLC?

I've found that whenever I fire it up, that happens to me.

Yep, I have seen this bug too, for a long time. And it seems very random - VLC doesn't affect it.

Perhaps it too random for Apple engineers to figure it out
