I have a friend who wants to be able to record everything her bf does on her old Purple iMac.. So i set up the Vine Server.. What im trying to do is make the vine server hidden at start up and make the icon in the dock dissappear..
Any Ideas on how to do it

Use the command line tool used in the VNCServer distribution, and run it via:
/path/to/vncserver &

Screw VNC servers.
System Preferences > Sharing > Apple Remote Desktop > Access Privileges... > VNC viewers may control screen with password:
No icons, no dock bloat, no bullcrap.

Yeah, why doesn't the original poster do this? I just assumed he had a reason for not doing so

In my experience the built-in VNC server is buggy as hell. I used to run it on a headless Xserve and had to keep OSXvnc running as a backup for when the built-in server inevitably craps out.
By craps out, I mean controls are still sent to the xserve but no screen updates are sent back. The only cure is to stop/start the service in System Preferences, not an easy task on a headless server...
These days I actually just use the OSXvnc server all the time and keep the apple one as the backup, never needed it yet though. Plus, for the original poster, OSXvnc (now Vine) can be configured to run automatically as a service, for all your spying needs.
