I just got my powerbook on 02/16 and there are some dips in the keyboard. It is not perfectly level on all keys. The right upper side dips down a little bit, and the lower left about halfway to the middle, also around the J U H and N keys. The keyboard works fine and I don't have any operating issues with it. Today the X key just popped off. I was wondering if this is normal or should I send it in. I really don't want to be without my computer because I need it on a daily basis. Would a problem like this be able to be fixed in an apple store?

About the only problem I have on mine is that I have to hit the spacebar a little harder than I am used to, so it's a bit of a learning curve. Other than that, it's fine. (And the lightup thing is much cooler than I thought it would be.)

If you look at the X key and nothing is broken, you may be able to pop it back on yourself. This requires a small amount of manual dexterity and engineering.

I did "pop" it back on. I just don't think that my $2000 computer should be "popping" off keys in less than a week.

Eh, I agree, but I also find it doubtful that the key just popped off on its own accord. I suspect you just knocked it off, which isn't a problem that generally gets worse or better with age, just with how much you abuse the keyboard. On the other hand, I've never noticed the curvature you're talking about on any keyboards, so if it's really noticeable, you may want to take it in any tell them it's making it difficult to use the keys without them popping off. Either they'll be able to help you or they won't, but it can't hurt to see, right?
