Very disappointed in the new Pbook launch. I hope this meager update will not further prolong until we get a real upgrade in processor, in video memory, etc.

So what's so good about this resolution update???

It puts the PB's display on par with the Wintel offerings.

if anyone can confirm that apple is upgrading the AWFUL screen used in the as of yesterday "current' 12" Powebook for a better screen please post.

I'd buy a new 12" just to get away from that dog screen Apple uses on the 12" models.

I'm really disappointed in the update too, especially since I need to buy a powerbook now. The new screens are welcome, as I've gotten used to working in 1920x1200, but there's no excuse for not upgrading the processors and GPU. Better hardware is available from Freescale, IBM, ATI and nVidia, and I'm really puzzled as to why we didn't at least get PPC 7448's in the latest batch of powerbooks.

I really wanted a 15" that could do 1680x1050. I would have bought that one.

Which isn't a good thing IMO. I think the rez of my 17" Rev A is perfect. I'll hold off making final judgment until I see the new ones, however 1600x1200 15" windows laptops are ridiculous!

Agreed.

But I'm quite happy with the resolution on my new 15". It's spacious, but things aren't ridiculously tiny.
