I'm setting up my G3 B&W rev 1 with VST UltraTek/66 PCI card that comes with SoftRAID software which offers set up for striping or mirroring. I don't think I need these feature as I'm only adding one drive (Seagate Barracuda ATA IV 80GB) at this time. Is there any advantage to using this software instead of the Apple Drive Setup?

In addition to two 80-wire 40 pin ATA cables, the card comes with a Power Supply "Y" Cable. If I only use one drive, should I use the "Y" cable or do I need to purchase a straight cable? I'm using OS 9.2.2

Now, I'm wondering if I should have bought two 40 GB drives instead of one 80 GB as the features of the SoftRAID software seem to take advantage of this configuration. Learning as I go...
