The previously rumored "lens camera" smartphone attachments from Sony have been confirmed thanks to images leaked to the Internet. The forthcoming devices still don't have a prospective release date, but the images show the attachments in greater detail than have previous leaks. Sony Alpha Rumors' report holds that Sony will announce the new devices on on September 4.

The two devices will reportedly have the name "Smart Shot," a sort portmanteau of smartphone and CyberShot, the brand name for Sony's line of point and shoot cameras. The devices will also feature in-lens stabilization, and they will be compatible with all Android and iOS devices via a specialized app. That app, dubbed Playmemories, will be released to both the Play Store and the App Store in the near future.

The lens cameras will connect with smartphones through either Wi-Fi or near-field communications. They will, as was previously reported, they will be capable of 1080p HD video capture, with captured images and footage saved automatically both in the smartphone and in the camera.

The Smart Shot QX10 will feature a 1/2, three-inch 18MP CMOS sensor and f/3, 3-5.9 lens. The QX100 will same sensor found in Sony's Rx100MII. Both devices are expected to debut next week at Berlin's IFA.

The original article was written by someone in a part of the world where a comma is used where we'd use a period. So the correct specifications are: "1/2.3 inch 18 megapixel CMOS sensor and f/3.3-5.9 lens." It obviously doesn't have a 3" sensor.

Dear Editor,
Can you please clean up the language in the last paragraph. Nothing makes any sense.

Look at the colours. They would seem to confirm the iPhone 5S is going to be in three colours: white, goldish and black. The white and gold lens will go with either the white or gold iPhone and the black lens with the black one.
