So it takes terrorists killing thousands for Apple to release a sub $500 iMac?
We had gas station owners on Sept. 11 who showed more class- while some stations were gouging with $5 a gallon- one guy dropped his price to .99 a gallon and said on his sign "Our prices will not be set by terrorists"
If Apple did some comparison shopping- they would realize that there is a market for a sub $500 Mac- and also they need an entry level machine without a monitor for PC users to switch to- who already have a 17" color monitor, a bunch of USB accessories- but want a computer that works...
Marketing is still something Apple hasn't mastered. Sure Chiat Day does some great ads (and some not so good ones) but they still don't get it.
This "promotion" is not only in bad taste- it's embarrassing in so many ways it hurts.
When is Apple going to learn?

Apple is under no legal or moral obligation to do anything! These iMacs are not "released" current product! They are 400Mhz machines, that most likely are refurbished, which Apple chose as a means of helping out some of the local resellers.

You may have some valid points about Apple's marketing strategies; that's something that can be debated, in another forum, and without having to use a tragedy such as this as a starting point for your outrageous and arrogantly pompous assumption that you should decide what Apple's response to any given situation should be.

You're not Apple's marketing director; get over it!
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?
