I wonder how much he had to pay the airline per minute for that wireless internet connection...

Lame ad.

It might have been more interesting if it wasn't an Apple employee just doing it for the hell of it.

$30 for the full flight, or$10 for 30 minutes.

$30 Not bad for a transatlantic flight.

I bet it was damn laggy.

It's actually kinda hard to believe that nobody's ever tried that yet.... hasn't broadband on airplanes been available for some time now?

The plane isn't a Boeing 777 (from the Apple Insider thread) but most likely an Airbus A340-600. I looked up flights from Munich to San Fran and the Airbus is the plane used on this route.

Its useful if you haveto travel from the states to europe for example. a trans-atlantic light goes much quicker if you can own people on HALO for a few hours whilst ure traveling!!

11 hour flight are hell if you have nothing to do but if you have access to the net then you can waste a few more. I regularly waste huge amounts of time on the net.

i know that part, but i dont see how its such a leap in technology to put 802.11x on a plane. just seemed inevitable. and the video conferencing part- apple has already made that seamless. just seems like more of a lufthansa ad than anything.

*shrugs*

Well you no apple....'we did this before anyone else'

Not the biggest leap in technology (im sure some1 will now shout at me for saying that it is damn hard getting WiFi to work in plane but...) all you have to do is stick a base station or 4 in a plane. Would have thought the hardest part was linking the plane to a server on the ground what with atmosphere disturbances etc but i suppose you are flying above most of that.

Its just a really good demonstration of a really great product (iChat)

It is damn cool though. (10 years ago...internet/video conferencing on planes?? would you believe it)

How many frames does Halo get on a PowerBook? 3? 4?
