Watching this GUI in action sure looks faster and easier than the mouse point and click method.

Sure the current design of OSX doesn't allow this type of interactivity but who knows what the future brings. I think for some apps to have a gesture OS would be awesome and make things faster.

I can see the price being an issue though especially with a 30 inch desktop LCD.

I could see things like the pinch being worked into Apple's laptops. It would actually make it really nice for people who are doing Photoshop on their MacBooks.

I expect this to be standard sooner rather than later. Probably in five years, even the low end Apple Laptop will have this.

Apparently according to MacWorld smudges aren't a huge issue with the iPhone due to a coating over the screen.

There are already some sort of gestural behaviours in Apple's Motion. Using Ink you can do gestures using a Wacom tablet. Like drawing a big circle will zoom the image, drawing a small circle will zoom in a larger amount.

The trackpads already have it to some regard with the two finger scrolling.

Yes it's only common sense that Apple will probably incorporate this tech into other products of theirs.

There is a thread in the MacBook forum about the two finger scrolling and how it would be neat to be able to fling your fingers to scroll, like how Steve did it on the iPhone.

I don't think that sort of thing is out of the question any time soon.

Ya I was thinking the same as the hardware on the trackpads is already there they just need to make smarter software.

The second step is to make the whole OS gesture interface friendly with ways to close and move windows without having to hit a tiny red button or window titlebar.

That would be cool. Instead of clicking the red dot, you can use hand gestures to crumple up the window into a wad of paper and toss it into the trash. "Jordan for 3!!!....swish."

Slick shoes?! Are you crazy?!

And before you know it, it's gloves with motion sensors and bam—we'll all be semaphoring, Minority-Report-style.

Apple didn't invent this. They will probably implement it well, that's essentially all Apple does nowadays.

Apple is rarely first to the market with hardware. They are usually the first to make it consumer friendly and widespread.

Airport wireless was not invented by Apple
USB was not invented by Apple
MP3 Players were not invented by Apple
Etc
