i dont think they can charge too much for it or they will price themselves out of the market.

the fact that it doesnt say "nintendo" on it is more than enough reason to believe its going to die a very quick death. there have ALWAYS been portable game machines on the market that were better spec-wise and price-wise than nintendos machines, but nintendo has always absolutely and completely dominated the portable market.

seriously, if you think about it, what devices were better spec-wise than nintendos? ALL OF THEM. when the gameboy was still in its first phase (original gameboy, gameboy pocket) there was that turbographix device, the sega nomad, atari lynx, maybe more? all with color screens. all pretty much comparable to the GBA which didnt come out for another 10+ years.

theres always been a better device than nintendos on the market and theyve always been crushed.

this nokia thing does have one thing that nintendo doesnt have yet, and thats the "portable online play" option. will it make enough of a difference? will the price to play online be too much? i guess we'll have to see. if this thing costs more than $150, its not going to be pretty unless online play is free.

I think it looks pretty cool. Nice specs too: smaller, lighter, better processor, more capabilities.
I think I saw in the store that it's about 300$, but given that it's a phone, a game boy, an mp3 player, etc, it seems like a good deal. Provided all works as advertised.

Daimoni, about the kitchen sink... why are pocket knifes so successful? Why are GPS systems, personal emergency locators, and walki-talkies merging? And would you rather have a phone, GBA, mp3 player, radio, and whatever else they crammed in this thing than just an N-Gage?
I dunno, I like owning as few things as possible that can do as much as possible.

If only I were going to be in a position to use one I'd get it.

It is an unproven gaming system and a big awkward phone.

Haha, $300? That is one high-tech sinking stone for Nokia. Reminds me of the Game.COM. Anyone remember the Game.COM? Tiger's attempt at a cartridge-based handheld. I had one.... *hangs head in shame*

Had a touch screen and everything.

It's been my experience that things that try to accomplish too much end up being mediocre at everything (the old "Jack of all trades, master of none" phenomenon). This isn't a hard and fast rule, and of course there are some features that lend themselves to being combined more than others.

I think the design is pretty crappy. Like the old gameboy advance with a number pad grafted on it.

It isn't going to sell, especially in the United States. Still haven't convinced Americans to use their cell phones as anything other than... telephones.

And it's too expensive.

Put this one next to your TurboExpress, Game Gear, Nomad, Lynx, and Game.com.

Nintendo needs some competition in the portable arena, but this isn't it. We'll have to wait until next year for Sony's PSP for any hope of that.

Yeah I've seen this thing a lot and keep thinking... gona get slaughtered. To expencive. The point of gaming is to game not to phone. Why merge the two? You shouldn't HAVE to have the phone to play the games. If you built up the console, and then added a phone addapter fine. But you shouldn't have to pay for both to use it. The market is just to small.

Thankfully Nokia will get their butt kicked.

that said I dread the comming of the PSP, playstation in the portable market... imagin the quality of THOSE games

lol! I guess that wouldn't all be going on at once.

Still, I think that phones, walkie-talkies, and radios ought to be in one device.
And I think mp3 players, game boys, and cameras ought to be one device.

Perhaps the two don't belong together, though. My attraction to "as few things as possible" gets the better of me sometimes. I still think this looks really cool though. So we'll see if Nokia has any luck here...

Jeebus. How many friggin useless items can you cram into a device? THis is just the height of Gadget Overkill.

I got a phone. What I do with it? MAKE CALLS. Nokia 6340. No color screen (WHY do I want that). No MP3 playing (I got an iPod). No picture taking (I got a camera). No stun gun... ok. THAT might be useful.

For me a cell needs to be a communication/ limited PIM device. That's it. I just don't understand all this crap thrown on.

A Swiss Army knife is useful. Nokia thingy is not useful. It is a geegaw package. Gomers with tech envy get these.

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

Nintendo does have that in Japan. I think you need to hook up a cell phone though, so it's not all right in the machine.

Yeah, I noticed that Mario Kart had an option for playing against someone via cellphone. Kind of neat, although probably too expensive to really be something you'd want to do much.
