It maybe a bug, but one i think is actually pretty good. Another member on the forum has mentioned it before under being a bug.
While in dashboard, open up the widget tray at the bottom.
Begin to drag a widget from the tray to your dashboard desktop,
but before letting go of it with your mouse, press your hot key for dashboard.
You will keep holding the widget but dashboard will disappear, allowing you to drop a widget onto your normal desktop, ripple and all.
You can only have one widget on the desktop, and as soon as you activate dashboard again, it will pick the widget up off of your desktop and place it back in the dashboard.
I think he has found a cool bug, weather/stocks/ any widget live on your desktop.
Quite cool

There an app which will put a menu extra in your menuabr that will do the same, plus gives you a lot more options.
Amnesty
Product Description:
Amnesty Widget Browser is a utility that allows Dashboard widgets to live directly on your Desktop via a convenient icon in your system menu bar.
Widgets loaded in Amnesty Widget Browser run completely independent of Apple's Dashboard environment, maintain their own preferences and feature additional properties such as window level and opacity.
For widgets junkies, Amnesty Widget Browser is a great way to sample third-party widgets outside of Dashboard. And for widget developers, Amnesty Widget Browser makes a perfect rapid testing environment* (instead of loading widgets in Safari).

If you want multiple widgets on the desktop, there is an other way without having to use any 3rd-party applications. Open the terminal, enter:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES
After that, either re-log-in or simply restart Dashboard by typing
in the terminal. Thats it, you can now drag out more than one widget to the desktop and they stay on the desktop, even if you activate and deactivate Dashboard.

thanks DDgraphics and p.h.i.l .
Ive heard about that amnesty program, will have a look at that . Thanks.
I didnt realise you only had to put those commands into terminal to have the freedom to put widgets wherever , many thanks. Will try both methods!.
Find it useful to use stickies on deskop, or use the weather widget on the desktop, rather than flick between screens.

Other threads on this. A simple search would have brought this up. No reason for another thread on this.
