I am able to log on via the web to my .MAC account but on my Macbook Pro, Mail keeps asking for my password when I go to send an email.
Why and how do I fix this?
It started doing this today, possibly after the recent update.
thanks in advance.

This is a common bug, it's been around since Panther.
Quit Mail, wait a few minutes, open it up again.

I have tried closing, waiting and reopening that several times. I've even rebooted once.

I've experienced this too. No solution except to wait....
I also had a strange Mail bug that when opening mail sent from someone's webmail account, was promted for their password!
*sigh*

I had this issue a lot a while ago when I had Mail checking every minute. It was almost as if it got held up checking for mail and then tried to check again, it would ask for the password. I set it to check every 5 minutes and I haven't seen the issue since then.
