is this photo for real?

I like what's going on with the new finder, but seems too good to be true, and this version is much more advanced than any we have seen before.

Love the inspector!

fake (its a good one if it is)?

It was posted on think secret's forums.

My first thoughts were fake, but the more I look the more it makes sense.

Fake
Looks like a big event, there hasn't been one with a Leopard demo (since WWDC anyhow). The Dock contains the pervious iTunes icon (the one with the green note)

fake. look at the edges of the audience's silhouette. the "about this mac..." dialog has a dashboard widget X in the corner and the only reason i can think of for jobs' photo being superimposed on the desktop is to give the image a false sense of authenticity. you wouldn't actually see that at a real event.

I think this is meant to be an iChat feature where the person you are talking to is superimposed on the screen while you are working.

Apple would never do horrible "My first web 2.0 photoshop tutorial" buttons like that big close button.

Is that a Windows icon I can see in the bar at the top? Anyway, Jobs isn't vain enough to superimpose himself onto a picture, so definitely fake.

That picture also looks like a MacBook, with a glossy screen hmmmm which makes it definitely photoshopped.

Why would it have a pic of Jobs holding up the 1G shuffle with the shuffle edited out? As for the About this Mac, hit control-option--8 to do that ( repeat for normal).

If it were real, my take is that the image of Jobs is to show where his hand is clicking (with a pen perhaps). The controls nearby are zoomed to increase accuracy of the click - i.e. this is a tablet interface.

Love "Send Back to Dashboard" on the widget.

Looks plausible to me.

I see Apple are now making projection screens with the gloss finish. Cool.

Steve is also now over 1000 ft tall. Even cooler.

I think it's fake, but I think whoever made it put steve in there half way to make it seem more like a presentation. At events like this, the main screen is often cross-faded from a live shot of the presenter to a slide or computer desktop like this.

The picture was just taken in the middle of the cross-fade, hence seeing both the presenter (Jobs) and the computer background.

It's not a glossy screen and Jobs isn't 100 foot tall. Even if you think it's fake, see it for what it's trying to portray. The image from the Mac's camera is being composited onto the screen. You can do almost the same thing today with one of the utilities that makes your desktop background be a Quartz Composition. The idea here to show where Job's hand is as he manipulates the touch UI.

Jobs is holding a pen not a Shuffle. It looks like a pen interface to me.

Finally, how do you keep all those people quiet? Well, that could be the Leopard team at Apple. Perhaps now they're merging the new UI look into the WWDC codebase and showing it off to the rest of the Leopard team.

Anyway, with a leaked photo they did NOT manage to keep it quiet!

It's fake.

Has anyone noticed the date and time? Do you really think Steve had time to do a secret demo at 9:50am on August 7, 2006, 10 minutes before the WWDC keynote?

I like the use of black in the screenshot, even if it is just fake. I've always liked those black palette windows ever since they appeared in iPhoto.

I would be rather upset if the GUI changed considerably. I just want a clean update to what we currently have with perhaps a few nice/logical upgrades.

I don't need transparent or black... just a nice clean update to the GUI.

AND A FAST AND RESPONSIVE FINDER!!!

Fake! Because on the bottom of the screen, you see 6.0 version of iTunes (green) so.. it's outdated. Not Leopard.

Well, "my sources tell me" that the latest ADC Leopard build didn't come with iTunes 7.x as part of it either, so I wouldn't be so quick to use that as justification for calling "fake" on this pic.

Well for starters, that you make a little mock-up and another guy buys it and goes all apeshit about it. Some people need to chill, seriously.
