I need to move my Fios converter across the room from the outlet. Is there a big difference in 50 Ohm or 75 Ohm Coax Cable?

A HUGE difference! If the system is based on TV cable, you need 75 ohm cable, like RG 6.

Better yet run a cat5 or cat6 line from your box outside to your router... or if you want to stick with the Coax you need 75ohm RG6

Yeah, if you have the choice you'd much rather run long CAT5 than long RG6.
