I'm part of a project at my university to make a huge chunk of our video content available online. This basically means converting DVDs to streamable .mp4 files. We've been using Sorenson Squeeze on the Mac and while I'm very pleased with the user interface and the batch tools (the Watch folder is a thing of beauty) I'm totally frustrated with their slow updates (you still can't run it reliably on Tiger almost six months later) and a complete lack of multiprocessor support. This last has become a bigger issue since we just laid out some serious cash for some Quads.
So I guess I'm just trying to get the lay of the land and see what else is out there. It needs to be able to produce QT Streaming Server compatible .mp4 files and needs to have some kind of batch tools. Being able to fully automate it would be nice as well as would a user interface that non-technicals could be trained to use without too much intimidation.
All input is greatly appreciated.
